I have a computer running windows XP and using a Broadxent 56k modem. I have no problem connecting to the internet or even keeping a connection. My problem is that for some reason my computer will not send or receive data. I have no idea what to do. No site I've found has given me an idea how to help this. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Have you tried removing the dial up connectoid and making a new one.If you have more than one I would remove them all. What model modem is this? Are you using a firewall?

Have you installed any software to make this happen?

I have Zone Alarm but its disabled. I thought that was the problem too. I've deleted and remade all of my connections and double checked all of the information. The modem is a V.92 modem made by Broadxent, I'm not sure of the model number, I picked it up at Best Buy. I can't think of any software that would cause this problem, so I'm not sure if I've installed any or not. What are some types of software I should be looking for?

Check IE setting.
Verify that you are able to connect to your Internet service provider (ISP) and that the connection settings for Internet Explorer are correct (for example, make sure the Use a Proxy Server check box is cleared if you do not use a proxy server).

Have your ever been able to surf the web with this modem.Did you uninstall the other modem? What version of explore do you have installed? Right click the IE icon, properties, connection, check settings. Look on the modem for the FCCID# and post.

Might try this program.

Do you have two modems installed on this pc? Would like to see a modem log. Do you know the chipset this modem uses?
