I've tried several v.92 modems, and they all give slower connect speeds than my old DSI/Creative 3635 pci v.90.

I tried a USR 5610B, Zoom 3049 ext, and now an Actiontec PCI V9219 (agere 1648c chip). Actiontec says the driver I have is up to date.

None of the v.92 modems will ever get above 34,600. Connections are usually from 28 to 34.6.
As soon as I take each v.92 out and put the old DSI v.90 back in (often w/in minutes of removing the v.92), the connections go right back up to 45,333 to 48,000. It has been consistent with each new v.92 modem, so I'm 99.99% sure it's not a line quality issue.

I've tried calls to lots of ISPs - same results.
None of the modem support people have ever had any suggestions or gave me instructions that made any difference.

Any suggestions? Is there a reason that most v.92 modems would connect slower on the same lines that my old v.90 gets pretty good speeds?
