dvarela Tl Posts: 8 USA | Posted - 2/13/2004 4:37:46 PM Thank you for your time Richard. To answer your question: USRobotics Courier V.Everything Link Diagnostics... Chars sent 0 Chars Received 0 Retrains Requested 0 Retrains Granted Data Compression NONE Disconnect Reason is DTR dropped Modulation Unknown Speed Freq Level OK |
v.Richard Tl Posts: 6222 USA | Posted - 2/13/2004 6:58:35 PM There are no results in those diagnostics - and it is missing the aty11 as well. You need to do these diagnostics AFTER completing a call to your ISP. Aloha! Richard. |

v.Richard Tl Posts: 6222 USA | Posted - 2/14/2004 4:42:59 AM Your upload speed (21.6k) is actually what I'd call poor - so if you think upload is good and download (45.3k) bad, would like to see the diagnostics after a longer session (like at least 30 minutes) which will give better indication of errors/retrains, etc. Upload = data you send out You could also try: or, try another ISP - without getting an account at another ISP you can make test call via Hyperterminal www.modemsite.com/56k/trouble4.asp Aloha! Richard. |
dvarela Tl Posts: 8 USA | Posted - 2/14/2004 5:11:48 AM Would buying the modem from this site help me to get better uploads and downloads? I went to test my modem at DSL reports that tells me I have an upload speed of 76 and download of 21. Thank you for your time. D |
charles Tl Posts: 5879 USA | Posted - 2/14/2004 8:27:27 AM Try this string in extra settings. &U11&N29 Remove every thing from there phone jacks. If using a surg device connect the modem right to the wall jack.Disable the firewall.Go to device manager look to see if you have a network card installed, disable it there. This also could be a problem if you have Xp to auto update, set to prompt for updates. The auto update could be your bigest problem here. SNR ( dB ) 44.8

charles Tl Posts: 5879 USA | Posted - 2/14/2004 8:36:15 AM Auto update set to notify me before downloading. http://www.microsoft.com/security/protect/windowsxp/updates.asp What fax software are you using, might check the setup for problem of fax in pulse. The modem here at modem site is a very good modem. One of the best upgrade to this modem would be the V92 and modem on hold. Check your isp if they support V92. Your will have better support and more updates drivers with the agere chipset modem as far a connection speed will not know unless it it used.Note the date of the flash software for the usr modem. The newer modem might have better support for XP as well.Post a modem log . dvarela Tl Posts: 8 USA | Posted - 2/15/2004 5:47:39 AM Thank you charles I did what you said and I think is has something to do with my network card. Now is this an XP problem with network cards or is this a problem with modem? I need the network card to work for my wife to share files with. Thanks again |
charles Tl Posts: 5879 USA | Posted - 2/15/2004 6:59:37 AM This is a problem with XP.Do you have the network card setup? This problem comes about because if the card is installed and not in use XP is always looking for for the network. Set the card up and the problem should go away. v.Richard Tl Posts: 6222 USA | Posted - 2/16/2004 6:26:37 PM (And I'd still like to see the ati6i11 diagnostic results you get after a longer connection - 30 mins or so.... which would help me give you better advice....) Aloha! Richard. |
dvarela Tl Posts: 8 USA | Posted - 2/17/2004 2:51:04 AM Sorry Richard. Would you please tell me how to do the 30 min test? I tried in HT and it disconnects me in 1 minute. I even tried to login and it would not let me. Also, when you tell me how to connect for the 30 minutes, Do I need to be surfing or just leave it alone? Thank you for your time. D |
v.Richard Tl Posts: 6222 USA | Posted - 2/17/2004 6:40:33 PM Connect using your regular method for accessing the Internet. Then, after 30 minutes of browsing/downloading/surfing, etc. disconnect; open Hyperterminal, and issue ati6i11 the diagnostics for the last call (your 30min) session should be displayed. If they're not displayed, see www.modemsite.com/56k/x2-inf.asp Aloha! Richard. |
