I have a GVC modem under windows XP and it will not dial, it finds the modem, I can query it, but when it goes to dial nothing happens. Any suggestions?

Try the modem in a different PCI slot;
check line cord - make sure plugged into correct modem jack; use a 2-wire line cord;

Check modem driver version when you query modem - response to ati3
What driver version do you have?
