I've recently purchased a Dynalink (Agere) win-modem and have been trying to improve my connection by (as usual) connecting direct to phone line, then plugging the rest of my phones (network!) in via the modem's phone socket.
Problem.... the modem does NOT seem to cut off the phone socket connection when it's connected to line.
Anyone out there find similar? And... is it possible to switch this. I've searched for a jumper on the modem, but found none! Thanks guys,
Chris

Not possible -
The modem is designed either one way or the other - the way you have is 'Modem on hold' friendly, since the phone jack needs to be live while the modem is offhook for MoH.
Modems with a solid-state line DAA (no relay) would require extra components to implement a switched 'phone' jack.
The electro-mechanical design could be implemented either way without much difficulty or needing different components.

Aloha! Richard.
