I recently had a new seperate line installed for internet connection, & since this new line has been active my speed has been a constant 31200 speed with no variation. No 31000,33000 etc... Prior to this I was connecting at 40000 to 44000 which is remarkable for where I live.(several miles back in the Mtns). My other line is same connect speed now to. I tried other acces #'s the other night & the first connect was at 40000, oddly after trying the same # I was back at 31200 again. I called the phone Co. & was told the same old buisness about lines & connections, I also approached my service provider & was told the same thing. They wouldn't listen to the fact that I have a CONSTANT 31200 connect. Is it possible for the Phone company to place filter's on the line to prevent faster connections??? I know it sound's paranoid, but I did mention this to the phone guy who installed my additional line & was was litterly surprised I was connectiong at 40000 to 44000.
I have a HP Media Center PC m377n computer with Win XP Pro & a brand new Broadxent V.92 PCI Value DI3652-2 modem. I pulled out the factory Lucent win modem because I was lucky to connect at 14400 with it. Which I found in the past with Lucent modems the connection degrade's over time.Even with updated driver's. Which is another topic.
Any advice or help will be greatly appreciated.
Thank You for your time.
