| jon bielby Tl Posts: 1 United Kingdom | Posted - 5/5/2004 1:32:44 PM    Hi, my first time here but can't find a solution to this anywhere.. for 6 months now my modem hasn't been working on my main pc, first using a motorola 56k soft modem and now a conexant hardware pci one. This is what happens (or rather doesn't..): connects ok, verifying user name and password at around 44,400bps. then the data rate drops of the scale, only receiving maybe 10 bytes per second and web page brings up a DNS error. happens with both ISPs I use and also the internet connection wizard freephone however, my old pc (in the same room and on the same extension) connects fine normally around 31,200 kbs on a 33.6k ISA modem. ..tried fiddling with most of the options available from control panel but to no avail so far. thank you ever so much for any ideas on what it might be! cheers Jonathan could post the mdem log if that might help?
