Hi. I recently got a very old box (a Compaq Presario 7226, from 1994!) with a very old modem in. Everything on this mahcine is working apart from the modem, which needs drivers. Im having trouble finding exactly what modem it is, but from what I can gather its a V.32, an ISA modem, with voice and fax. Its made for compaq presarios, and ive found a little sticker on it saying 004748-002 Rev F , which I think is its FCC ID. I cant tell what chipset, but theres 2 AT&T chips on there, with 1 LG semicon one, and what looks like a BIOS or controller or something. On the back there is a sticker saying Series 550A High Speed Fax/Voice modem. Thats about all I can say about it....if I can get any sort of driver that will make it work even at low speed, or if someone could point me in the direction of one, that would be great. Thanks.

Thanks mainbuss, the modem is working now. Thanks also for the links charles...after I installed the modem I queried it, its a 19.2k Data / 14.4K Fax modem! Its also V.32 rather than V.34, so those driver pages werent the right drivers, but the Windows ones get it going full speed so its fine. Thanks...im not sure its worth it for 19.2K but its better than nothing!

Some of these modems could be upgraded to 56K.
