v.Richard Tl Posts: 6222 USA | Posted - 6/15/2004 6:58:14 PM Don't be too concerned with connect speed - it is often not a good indication of the real quality of the connection - modem mfrs have incentive to 'cheat' on what the modem reports to you to make you think the modem is better than another. www.modemsite.com/56k/faster.asp Your USR modem reports connect speed of 49.3k which is very good and a peak speed of 50.6k in the diag you posted - A modem that connects at 52kbps and gives 42kbps throughput is a perfect example - the 52kbps connect speed is a "lie". Also see A throughput test like that at PCPitstop is not the best indication of connection quality either. Aloha! Richard. Edited by - v.richard on 6/16/2004 4:00:17 AM |
