My USR 5610B is on Com5. How do I access that port in Hyperterminal. The drop down of connections only includes Com 1 thru Com 4

Thanks

What you might do is when you start Hyperterminal is just hit the cancel, then type in AT and hit enter.

This problem was on here before and the hit cancel worked fine for a USR modem on com5 . Hyperterminal should be set by default to auto detect.

Thanks for the info. I'm working now. Yes, could have searched the archives but at 12,000 that's tiring.

Have you ever updated the HyperTerminal Private Edition to 6.3? This is a update to the free HyperTerminal. Check what version you have first. It still has the com4 limit. If you use this program for more than just testing the modem connection or need more port support you might want to check out the HyperACCESS product,it has more ports listed or you could save yourself some money and use the work around that Mainbuss has posted or on some modems you can edit the ini file and force the modem to install to the port you want.
