Hi,

after going through some more Modemsite pages I became really interested in the DIL sequences. Why can they be so different? And why does the server modem actually "send" the DIL, while the client determines it?

Thanks in advance,
Pim.

Each client modem driver designs/defines what DIL sequence is to be sent. The client modem driver uses what it actually receives compared to what it knows the server modem sent to calculate what impairments are in the circuit.
Because PCM modulation is downstream only (in V90) it's only necessary for the client to receive the digital sequence from the server modem. Regular V.34 training occurs for the upstream.

Aloha! Richard.
