Hello every one,
I am using Z02922 to designe a leased line modem, but when I use a "dry" copper to link the two modem directly, neither call tone or answer tone can be detected in both side, can you tell me what's the main defference between a dial up modem and a leased line modem? For a leased line modem design, If it has special requirement for the modem data pump hardware?

Never give up!

A dial-tone line will have battery (DC) voltage on it full time; a leased line may or may not depending upon the type of leased line.
Some dial-up modems require the DC line voltage to be present; some do not, although almost all modern dial-up modems will by default attempt to detect dial-tone and fail to connect unless you disable dial-tone detection.

In most cases, if the modem doesn't have an electro-mechanical DAA (a relay to put modem on/off hook), the DAA will be telco-line powered.

Aloha! Richard.
