Why is it when I connect using my ISP's V90 only phone number, I get about twice the thru-put (41k vs 24k down) compaired to their local v90/v92 access numbers?

My connect speed is 50.2.

I use both MyFreeI & Juno in the Little Rock, Ark area.. trying both their v90 & v92 access numbers with the same results. The actual phone numbers are different between the two companies.

My modem is the ModemSite Agere internal modem using the Agree 8.30 drivers.

I am using Windows XP Pro with SP1.

I am using DSLREPORTS.com to benchmark my thru-put.

Thank you in advance for your response.

Dave

It's not possible to answer question with certainty -
many factors can affect speed/throughput.

Do you get the same 50.2k connect speed to all numbers, but different throughput?

Suggest:
post modemlog & post-call diagnostics for both connects
www.modemsite.com/56k/modemlog.asp
www.modemsite.com/56k/ltwin10.asp

Install Net.Medic and monitor instantaneous throughput
www.modemsite.com/56k/netmedic.asp

Aloha! Richard.

Yes.. my connect speed is the same to all phone numbers, but the thru-put with the V92 numbers is much less than the V90 numbers.

Odd :(

This could be with the isp and how many line they have. Are you making a V92 connection on both lines?
