|Forums | USR (Public) | Transfer voice from modem to soundcard?||Watch|

I am trying to make phone call on my laptop(I posted several thread before and figure out that I need a voice modem to do this). I now have a pc card modem with voice and speakphone capability, the model is 3CXM756, maker is 3COM.
When I try to call out via the modem in Windows, I found I can't control the volume. Finally I figured out the sound generate by the wave device of the modem instead of the soundcard.
Do I have any possibility to transfer the voice from the modem to soundcard? As it is a PC card modem, so it does not have a microphone jack, so I cannot connect the mic to the modem, I am thinking about getting the soundcard involved so that I can use the mic, but can't find a way.
I am using BVRP phonetools in Windows 2000, on a Dell D600, the soundcard chipset is Sigmatel 9750.Appreciate your help.

First: double-click the Speaker icon in Windows system tray to bring up volume control mixer - Click options -> Properties - then adjust volume for RECORDING; show volume control for all the listed devices, make sure microphone is enabled and not muted.

I am using the software Phonetools which definitely supports speakerphone function. But still, the sound is generated the modem instead of going through the soundcard.

This must be an old modem.
Might check to make sure voice is not disabled,
This may help. (Read this first)

Thanks Richard, for so many links.
Have checked the setting, the Voice mode is activated, and I am quite sure the sound properties has been set correctly in OS.
You are right, this is a old modem, I can't find any modem else which support speakerphone...:)
BTW, do you happen to know the chip of this modem? I am trying to select a general template in Phonetools.

I would think it is a Texas Instruments.
