HELP. I have an Agere PCI Soft Modem in a new Compaq 1130nx CPU. Downloaded sp223919.exe from Compaq. This is suppose to be driver file version 4.1.100.1332 or 8.20. I execute the file. When I go and look at my driver on modem properties page is 2.1.41.10 and does not change to 8.20 or 4.1.100.1332. I also have downloaed Modem On Hold from Compaq sp23220.exe and this is suppose to be version 1.70 and it will not execute. THUS, I cannot use the Modem on Hold on my V92 modem. Can anyone help!

You don't have the LT/Agere Data Fax modem (which uses 8.30), you've got the Softmodem (SVP).

You need MoH for the SVP which you can download from Modemsite -
www.modemsite.com/56k/premiumc.asp
Look for:
For Agere PCI Modem with SV92P:
Modem-on-hold V 1.72 Readme

You can also install the latest driver for the modem by downloading
2.1.46 for Windows XP & 2000

It doesn't look like you are making a V.92 connection:
09-14-2004 22:01:23.015 - Send: ATDT###-####<cr>
09-14-2004 22:01:51.375 - Recv: <cr><lf>CONNECT 50666 V42bis<cr><lf>
Are you using a V.92 ISP?
(On a V.90 connect, MoH will allow only to disconnect the modem on call-waiting or ignore.)

I have spoken with my ISP, Highstream.net and they indicate the my connect number is V.92 capable, at their website the speed column says "56K:V.92" for my particular access number.

Would you recommend just purchasing the modem you are selling. I noticed I cannot plug a phone in this modem and I would be open to upgrading. I do have the caller ID with call waiting on top. I can be on the phone and receive a call and it is idetified on my phone face.

I downloaded the two files and executed. I do not have a dial tone when I dial up and I do not get a "ding" when the call comes in. I do get the caller ID screen and the ability to take the call. I checked to make sure my modem sound is on. It does not make a difference if wait for dial tone is check or not. Any suggestions?

I went back and restored system before I updated driver. Speaker dial tone sound came back. I reloaded updated driver and MOH and lost sound. The problem with this is that when the pop-up window for the call coming in shows up there is no "DING" sound. Any more direction?

ONE MORE ITEM. The pop-up scree is only there for about 3 seconds, not 10. Would your modem have a little more flexibility as far as a pop-up screen etc. Thanks.

Sorry for delay in responding -
Several things -

Your modem is described by Compaq on the 'Specs' sheet when you go to buy 1130nx as "high-speed 56K data/fax modem". It doesn't say V.92. The modem they gave you is *capable* of V.92 *so long as Compaq didn't disable it*.
(Sometime after the .40 release, option was enabled for vendor or OEM to disable V.92 - see
http://modemsite.com/56k/sv92p-2146.asp

EITHER the number you are calling for Highstream really isn't V.92, or, your modem may be 'V.92-disabled'. I would guess that if the latter is the case, you could install a driver version .40 or lower and have the V.92/V.44.
(The older versions are available at
www.modemsite.com/56k/premiumc.asp )

If the first issue is the one, getting another modem wouldn't help. If it's the 2nd issue, it would (although, the earlier driver may be an option).

Aloha! Richard.

On the box it says "V.92 data/fax modem" with an " * " next to it. The " * " says; up to 56 Kpbs download/33 Kpbs upload/14 Kpbs fax. After talking to many techs in India one finally told me that the V.92 option was disabled on my computer, as you have said. Why? I do not know. Is there a way to reenable??? I downloaded and installed the .40 driver and .38 driver and I still do not have any "ding" sound out of the speakers when a call comes in and no dial tone when dialing and no option to put the call on hold. Would I be better off purchasing the modem if I have a V.92 line??? You have been more informative than anyone else. Thanks.

Have you tried the +MS=V92,0 in extra settings?
Do you have the MOH icon in the system tray? Did you install the right MOH for this modem.Would be For Agere PCI Modem with SV92P.Also check the ltmoh.ini file and post.
Note:Added an option to disable all V.92 features. If vendor/OEM/modem supplier uses this option, Quick Connect, MoH, and PCM Upstream will all be disabled and these features cannot be enabled via AT commands or by the MoH application.
http://modemsite.com/56k/sv92p-2146.asp

Try this in hyperterminal.
AT+MS=?
AT+MS?
ATI3
If V92 is disabled from the driver I would not see why a new modem with other chipset would not work.
Might also check the ltmoh.ini file.
