| ssv Tl Posts: 3 USA | Posted - 10/18/2004 5:13:15 AM    Hi, I have rebuilt my laptop with a fresh copy of XP pro and the modem - TOSHIBA SOFTWARE MODEM (AGERE) stopped working. When queried the modem in the device manager, it says: "The port that the modem is attached cannot be opened. This may be the result of a hardware conflict. Check the device manager to verify all devices are functional" I checked the device manager and could see no hardware conflict. I wonder if you can help me out. Thanks in advance! |
| v.Richard Tl Posts: 6222 USA | Posted - 10/18/2004 5:31:43 PM  You'll need to get the XP driver from Toshiba (or some other vendor that uses the Agere Softmodem in notebook computer) and install the driver using the setup.exe program from the download. www.modemsite.com/56k/lucentamr.asp Aloha! I've done similar thing (urebuilt my IBM thinkPad and it ran with no problems! IBMs are really great) Toshibas suck! I wonder if you can let me know any more alternatives.. Thanks in advance. |
