A freind of mine has a v.92 modem but the modem on hold does not work. He looked on his isp support section and they siad you had to connect at least at 31.2. Is that true? I have never heard you had to connect at a certian speed. He just misses the connection by a little, he connects at 28.8 or 26.4.

No, that is not correct.
Modem-on-hold is independent of the connect speed; however, a V.92-protocol connection must be made for MoH to work.

He sometimes connects at v.92 but not usually. We tried another modem a v.92 modem from a different location and connected to the same isp and the modem-on-hold worked. So we took that same modem and hooked up to his comp and it hardly would connect at all. Then stuck that same modem in another comp at his house same thing. But when we did connect it was at v.92 but the modem-on-hold didnt work. So I told him it was in his phone lines(bad and old lines). He looked on thier site and it said that, I was like yeah right they probably just saying that cuase if you connecting lower than that its the old and crappy lines but wasnt sure wanted to make sure cuase this is a big time isp that I use to be on and always liked them top of the line isp and phone company. Thank you for the info.
