i have my machine set to dual-boot Win98\2000.if i connect while in 2000,i am unable to disconnect modem, i have to shut down comp. to disconnect, and its driving me nuts. any help would be greatly app.

This can happen if a new driver was installed on top of an old driver (old driver was not properly removed)
Check your DUN (Dial Up Connection) and see if more then one modem is listed ; if so remove both from the DUN.
Then , if your using a Agere Soft or Winmodem use the uninstall program to uninstall the modem.
Reboot, cancel the Hardware Wizard and install the modem with the setup.exe program.

Uninstall program;
Winmodem = ltremove
Softmodem = agrsmdel.exe

Check/post what driver version is installed with 2k -
that's the response to ati3 from Hyperterminal, or the ati3 result displayed from Modem Properties/Diagnostics/Query Modem
