| dlc9999 Tl Posts: 1 USA | Posted - 11/11/2004 11:11:29 PM    What is the best v.92 modem for a laptop. I had bought a creative labs pcmcia v.92 modem (a hardware modem) with Net Waiting software for MoH which connected at either 28,8K or 32K which was an improvment for me over my old modem (3com 3cxm356 winmodem) but the MoH did not work consistantly. Occansionly it worked perfectly but the most of the time it would just disconnect me after about 5 rings. My isp said it was because sometimes I was able to connect at v.92 and sometimes not. I am in a rural situation. I returned that modem and got the Creative usb v.92 (not hardware). It seems to be connecting at 24k but the preformance seems decent. It uses the modem driver to preform MoH but I haven't tested it yet. Any modem recomendations for a Laptop we helpful. thanks, |
