I recently upgraded a Win2k system from the MS supplied driver to generic 8.30 and was suprised to see voice support (i.e. an INF file for the WAVE device) missing. So I found a version 5.92 (which I think was also generic, but I got it from people who rebrand my Actiontec) which does have it.

My question is what is the latest version of the drivers with the necessary voice support and where can I obtain it?
(BTW, why did Agere remove support)

Thanks,

Andrew

P.S. Is there a history/change log for the driver somewhere.

Serial Wave support is in the v8.30 driver. The driver supports the Lucent/Agere Win Modem family chipset 1641 (ISA Luna) to 1648C.
The ltmodem.inf has a "Common Voice Section"
I can't give you or don't know the complete history of the chipset family and how the wave driver is implemented in the different driver packages but I do know one of the first 1641 ISA chipsets was not PNP.

In the "setup.inf the first section is "setup options".
;DeviceDependentInstall - will enable device dependent install options that
; copy files, extract cab files, launch executables and
; install homologation settings based on the installed
; devices PCI ID. The device specific details are specified
; in a section based on the PCI ID defined as
; [VEN_XXXX&DEV_YYYY&SUBSYS_ZZZZZZZZ]
;DeviceDependentInstall=Y

Try removing the ; in front of this line;
;DeviceDependentInstall=Y
Now looks like;
DeviceDependentInstall=Y

Save the file and reinstall the modem and see if you get any pop ups offering serial wave or voice support.

You might also want to enable the log file for troubleshooting.
;Log - This option will create a log file modemsetup.log which will log all setup
;operations
;Log=Y

The Actiontec may have a unique PCI ID number and the generic driver does not know to install wave support.

Good Luck.

Thanks I'll give your suggestion a try. Mine has a Mars chipset but I'll give your suggestion a try. They certainly have removed the LtWave.inf driver.

Thanks PI.
