Hi,

I've fought with this modem two days now and would appreciate greatly any help. There is Motorola typed on chipset and it has Atech ATS-256. It has phone, line, spkr and mic inputs.

MDU (modem information software) tells me that it is Rockwell Voice Modem Serial Wawe Device. How come? Chipset is Motorola and not Rockwell, I'm cofused.

Any of Motorola drivers didn't work, Rockwell Voice Modem Serial Wawe Device drivers didn't work either and some random lucky try shots didnt work.

Data from the stickers:

CE 0197X
625-811029*B*1360
RI56-21PM-0C0

Thank you.

Sorry about doublepost. I forgot to tell that I tried to install all those drivers with automatic installation at windows startup when it says new device found. I tried to install each driver atleast twice (because in readme was written that if win doesn't recognise drivers to be right then try pointing in that folder one more time, when it should identify drivers.) Still it didn't recognise any driver to be right for the modem. I tried through control panel too .... communication device -> properties -> update driver, with same ending as before.

Is the marking "Atech ATS-256" on the modems transformer.

http://www.maxlion.com/transformer.html

Atech (Taiwan) makes transformers for modems. The Internet is littered with 3rd party driver download sites claiming to have drivers for a "Atech ATS-256" modem
In fact the driver are for various modem (chipsets) that used the "Atech ATS-256" transformer.

"""Motorola did not make modems - they made the chipsets and licensed the software driver to the companies that actually make the modems. These companies are supposedly responsible for support of end-users, however, many of them provide little or no support."""

You can ID the modem you have by using a program that IDs the modem based on its PCI ID number imbedded in the hardware.
