Help! No not know squat about modems but just bought a HP windows XP and my modem does not disconnect when receiving an incoming call. I have an Agere PCI soft modem (venus, i think). 2.1.47 version driver (I did upgrade from 2.1.41.10). Can you give me any advise? Please

Are you running the Modem-on-hold applet?
(MoH Version 1.72 for Softmodem - available from
www.modemsite.com/56k/premiumc.asp )

The MoH applet will allow you to select call handling options, and, if you connect to a V.92 ISP that supports MoH, it allows you to take the call & then resume your Internet session.

Without the MoH applet, you can set the modem to disconnect when a call comes in by adding the command
+PCW=1
in extra settings - www.modemsite.com/56k/initmagic.asp

Make sure that the phone number your are dialing to connect to the ISP does not include any call-waiting disable code.

Aloha! Richard.
