v860dls Tl Posts: 3 United Kingdom | Posted - 2/1/2005 2:13:36 AM Hi Richard Thanks for the suggestion TRied this last night and it offered some improvement it now drops between 5 and 15 minutes. I trie dother speed settings such as +MS=V32, V32B all of which connected slower and also dropped. Analysing the modem log I get the message hanging up the modem I also read TSP(0000):lineevent:linecallstate_disconnected(0X1) Not sure if these are relevant Any further suggestions Thanks

v.Richard Tl Posts: 6222 USA | Posted - 2/1/2005 11:26:09 PM if 'hanging up modem' comes before anything else related to hanging up (loss of carrier/etc.), there's probably some software setting in a net-aware application (or spyware/malware) that's causing the hang up. Many programs, including browsers, e-mail, newsreaders, have settings to automatically dial connection. If they are set to dial a connection different from the connection you are on, can cause your modem to hang up. Suggest - remove all but 1 connectoid so there is only 1 connection to dial and remove any auto-connect settings in any software you have. Run spyware check. Aloha! Richard. |
v860dls Tl Posts: 3 United Kingdom | Posted - 2/2/2005 1:15:56 AM Hi Richard Thanks again for the prompt feedback I only have one dial up connection set up on teh machine. As far as I am aware teh only other programs which auto access the internet are Windows autoupdate and Norton Might this be leading to the problem? Rgds Nick |
