I did find a couple of differences in the procedure, though: 1. I identified my modem.inf file and looked in it for the distinctive ring enabling setting but couldn't find it. It seems to include other .inf files which it might be in. I found ATS41=1 (For USRobotics 56K V.92) on the US Robotics web site to be the correct string to use. 2. When I edited the registry, I set the response string value for RING B to 08 as the document describes, but found I had to set the response string for RING A to 00 to prevent the modem from picking up on a single ring. It seemed that any non-zero setting for the response string would cause ATAPI to pick up, not just the 08 value mentioned in the document |
