| haydee Tl Posts: 1 USA | Posted - 2/25/2005 5:41:24 PM    I have a Sony Vio Picturebook with XP OS, I can connect on my ISP and it keeps giving the Error 633, but then when I go to Query Modem this message pops up " The port that the modem is attached could not be opened. This may be the result of a hardware conflict. Check the device manager to verify all devices are functional. We recntly had a snow storm and I was online that day, then it suddenly disconnect because I think the telephone company in my area had a problem since then the error 633 pops up when I try to connect on the internet. |

Shut down your PC and remove power to it (turning off isn't enough - remove power cord). Check device manager. Is modem listed correctly? Are there any !'s or ?'s in device manager list? See If this doesn't help, remove (uninstall) modem; shut down & re-install. It is also possible modem has gone bad and will never work again (try in another PC if possible).
