I am trying to use dialer.exe in Win XP(Stsrt..run..dialer.exe) which brings up Phone dialer to make phone calls using PC. Problem i am experiencing is i can hear the other person, but they cannot hear me even i have external Mic. I can record fine in sound recorder. I checked in Microsoft to see the problem: they advised that modem does not have voice compatible modem drivers. I try to locate software, but was not successfull. Its Motorola SM56 Data Fax Modem, and the other one is Toshiba software modem AMR.

Secondly, On one of the computer which is XP tablet Edition the calls disconnects immediately. Please help. Thanks

Harvey

Dialer will dial using the modem, but you need to lift a regular telephone receiver to talk; you cannot record calls with dialer. (If you make an Internet-based VoIP call, things are different.)
If you want to record calls, you'd need a device (Radio Shack sells them) that connects to phone line and has line audio in/out.

Aloha! Richard.

Thanks for the response Richard.

I am not trying to record the voice. I am just trying to make the calls using phone diaer/Phone calls. Person on the other line cannot hear me while i have no problem hearing them.

You should be able to pick up a phone or any phone-like device connected to the line after the dialer finishes and talk. What you can't do is talk to a microphone connected to the sound card and have the other party hear you.

Aloha! Richard.
