Help. Bell has me really messed up. I have an
Intel R 536 EP V 92 modem. I need the correct settings. Bell told me to use AT+PMH =0. that hangs up all calls and being on line. Then they said try AT+PMH=13+ms=v92. Then they said try AT+ms=v92. Since I know very little about all this I seem to think that this web site suggests I use
AT+PMHT=7 Can ANYONE help me??? I only wish I could afford DSL
Thank you

The best way to configure and use MOH (Modem On Hold) with your modem would be to use a MOH program designed for your modem.
If the program was not supplied with your modem you can download one here. NetWaiting (a BVRP application)
http://www.xpressamerica.net/downloads/Drivers/Intel/536EP/MOH/ModemOnHold.exe

V.92 commands;
http://www.modemsite.com/56k/v92c.asp
http://www.hayesmicro.com/Tech_CS/documentation/V92_Commands.pdf

http://www.modemsite.com/56k/intel.asp
"Intel provides generic drivers:
http://www.intel.com/design/modems/support/drivers.htm
however, they do not provide a Modem-on-hold applet. If you were sold a V.92 modem with the Intel chipset, the manufacturer (Intel doesn't build modems) should have bundled compatible modem-on-hold software - usually BVRP's NetWaiting or FaxTalk's NetOnHold. While Intel and others provide modem driver downloads, the modem-on-hold isn't included with these downloads."

It did come with Modem on hold software. It is installed. It will ring come up with the number and even let you click on answer. BUT then you cannot answer the phone or stay on line. I am hoping someone can help me with the proper advanced modem string. AT+PHMT=7 does not work. I have added and taken away so much stuff I am afraid to download ANYTHING!

What MOH software was provided? NetWaiting or FaxTalk's NetOnHold
IF FaxTalk's NetOnHold I can't help, I don't use it and it is known to be buggy software.

Remove any "string" you have added in the modem "Extra Settings"

( AT+PMHT= ) is used to set the MOH timer on the ISP modem and determines the time allowed for MOH from your ISP.

Look at the V.92 commands links.
http://www.modemsite.com/56k/v92c.asp
"To initiate a modem on hold (the client could place an outgoing call while keeping the ISP connect on hold), compatible software would issue escape code to modem and give it the Initiate Modem on Hold - +PMHR command. The response to the command will be one of the values in the chart above which will allow the client software to keep track of, and alert the user to, the status of the modem hold."

If the MOH (BVRP NetWaiting) is only allowing you to "Answer" the incoming call then it is acting as a Call Waiting modem only (V.90).

For MOH (modem on hold) to work the ISP modem has to support V.92 and support MOH.
ISPs can and sometimes do turn this feature (MOH) off on V.92 lines.
Check with your ISP and make sure the number your using is V.92 and supports MOH (and for how long).
Make sure your phone line supports Call Waiting.
Make sure your dialer software is not disabling call waiting (*70.
