To do the test first bring up Hyperterminal.A Connection Description box&a New Connection - Hyperterminal window should come up.In the box name the connectios test & select an icon the first one is the one I use.Select OK.A Connect To box will come up enter the toll free number 18662936556 here.It can all be entered in the phone number box you don't need to use the area code box.The Connect box will come up.Here just select dial.In the test-Hyperterminal window Last name ,First name,Modem phone # will come up.You don't have to fill these in unless you need to report a problem. You can just hit enter 3 times. The test will run .Save the test the first time. After this you can just open the test & run it anytime. Some additional information My system is windows ME I know this is the way to do it in ME& 98. Xp shoud be able to do it the windows & boxes that come up could differ a little. If this is the case you will need to figure out where to put the information to run the test. This test uses the Telsink. If you have another phone company you may have to contact them to see if they have this type of test.Good luck I spent several hours talking to different so-called techs at SBC before I finally got a Very good tech the kind you rarely get who knew what I was talking about & gave me the information on how to run the test. The other techs had never heard of the test & only knew about the standard test that they run & tell you that your line tested OK.So doesn't work for you keep trying until your phone company tells you how to do this on their lines. The tollfree # again is 18662936556. cholla1 |
