I have an office computer which I have set up to receive incoming FAXes automatically. I also want to set it up for remote desktop (WXP) but I need to find a 56K-modem with the ability to autoanswer and distinguish FAX from data. Yet when I look at modems, none give any information as to this capability.

Question: which modems have this feature?

Thanks.

The problem is more than the modem: it's really a matter of software: basic Windows software is designed to use modem exclusively for one purpose: ie, if you set up an incoming connection on dial-up/autoanswer, you can't have a fax program running to autoanswer the same modem.
If the line had distinctive ring, and the modem supported distinctive ring, it's theoretically possible, but, since Microsoft basically dropped distinctive ring support in Windows, it's not easy to do.
