| ChrisFix Tl Posts: 3 USA | Posted - 6/19/2005 7:04:25 AM    I have a Modemsite V.92 DSP Modem purchased January 2004. Is the new V.92 softmodem better than the older DSP modem (better drivers, real speed, etc)? My Mom is using her new computer (EMachine/WIN XP Home)with the built in cheapy modem, and I was going to put in the Modemsite DSP modem but saw you are now selling a new modem. I'm just wondering if I'm better off getting her the latest one or even changing from the OEM cheapy modem which seems to work and supports Modem on Hold with NetZero as her ISP. | v.Richard Tl Posts: 6222 USA | Posted - 6/27/2005 10:59:06 PM  Chris - hard to say - The Softmodem vs DSP modem performance will depend on particular phone line/circumstances but usually they are pretty much the same. Sometimes the softmodem can do a little better - Agere has concentrated on driver development for the softmodem.... Aloha! Richard. |
