I bought one of the modemsite modems last year or so, its the agere one that doesnt use the computers processor, cant remember what you call this kind, anyway, i installed it in a compaq presario 5000, ok, i have the icon in my system tray of the 2 little modems that light up when the modem is communicating with another computer, like when im looking at websites, anyways, this little problem im having happens a lot, ok, i will be on a website, say i click on something on the website, ok, the cursor will freeze up for about 5 seconds, then all the sudden the 2 little computers icon in the system tray will finally light up and the cursor will unfreeze and i will get whatever i clicked on, its almost like the modem falls asleep and malkes the cursor and everything go to sleep with it, then it finally unfreezes and does what its supposed to, now, the cursor doesnt freeze up like this when im not connected.. and im also thinking its the modem because usually when i click on something on the net, the two computers icon immediately lights up and the page changes, but when it starts this, its simultaneous, the cursor freezes and the modems icon also just sits there, for about 5 seconds, then the modems icon lights up and the cursor UN-freezes..HELP!

Have you have this problem from the beginning or did it start happening sometime after the installation?

First suggestion:
Try modem in a different PCI slot.

Try the modem in a different PCI slot & let us know result / what version of Windows you are running.

Aloha! Richard.
