Should she remain with this modem or uninstall it and load a 56K modem instead? She is also wondering which is faster; a 56K, V90, or a V92 modem. |

I don't know of a 56k dialup modem that isn't 'data/fax' capable even if it is not called a 'data/fax' modem. 56k, V90, V92 are 'the same' with respect to theoretical speed capability . Actual speed capability will depend upon the actual phone line used with the modem, the telco facilities between that line and the ISP you dial; the equipment the ISP uses, and the ability of the modem's driver or firmware to operate under those particular conditions. www.modemsite.com/56k/faster.asp Aloha!
