I'm trying to install a new best data v.92 modem on an XP machine and the driver will not install. I've used a CD installation disk and also downloaded the program from best data- each time it simply disappears when I tell it to install. My emachines computer says it's v.92 compatible. Any ideas??

Some modem installation software behaves the way you describe - tell it to install; it does its work & disappears.

Check Device Manager.

If you still have trouble - need more info
including - what kind of chipset it has; modem model #.
If you still have trouble - suggest move modem to different PCI slot
