skarloey Tl Posts: 2 Malaysia | Posted - 7/20/2005 7:14:26 PM Please help. I run Windows XP SP2, and I have 56K EM3900-U dialup modem. Problem is, if I wait 3-5 minutes or more after bootup to connect, it won't. 'Error 692: Hardware problem' comes up. However, if I try to connect immediately upon booting up, everything is fine. No problems. I can connect, disconnect, connect again, and so on, AS LONG as it's all within three to five minutes of each try. Once the Error message comes up, however, I have to reboot before I can connect again. This means that if I have to disconnect (to save cash), and pass the 3-5 minute deadline before trying to connect again, I have to reboot. Very very inconvenient!! I have tried everything, including checking out all of Microsoft's Error 692 articles. Nothing helps. Can someone please enlighten me? Help!

Suggest you check ability to issue commands to modem when this problem occurs using Hyperterminal connected directly to modem COM port: Also, check your modem log Aloha! Richard. |
