johnnysp Tl Posts: 1 USA | Posted - 7/29/2005 2:22:33 PM I recently re-installed windows XP because my computer was crashing. Now everything is working ok except the modem. I tried setting up a standard 56k modem (through the wizard) and it is enabled, but whenever I attempt to connect to the Internet an error comes up that there was a hardwhare failure in the modem(or other connecting device). There is also no dial tone when I try to connect, but my connection is the same as before (i.e. dialing number and account). I have tried using the 'query modem' in the Modem properties but that comes up with "the modem failed to respond. Make sure it is properly conneced and turned on. If it is an Internal Modem (which it is) or is connected, verify that the interrupt for the port is properly set." The problem is I dont know what the Interrupt for the port is. Again, this problem occured after I re-installed windows XP which leads me to believe its something that I haven't done and that is the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
