ok. heres the deal. there is an all too common tutorial floating around the net detailing how to get a connection between your PC and your dreamcast so that you can give the dreamcast access to your broadband connection without buying the $100+ broadband adapter.

anywho, ive already went through it and have tried connecting and it keeps stalling on the silence detection line which is sending ATH1+VSD=128,0 to the modem. the modem returns ERROR.

now i know it can talk to the dreamcast as i was able to get it to connect through hyperterminal with a simple ATA command. but thats as far as i could get was connecting. no handshaking was possible.

so i was wondering if there is a different silence detection command for the conexant modems?

AT #VSD=1
enables silence detection (this is voice mode command)

Don't know why you'd need this voice command at all if you are using a modem for data connection - of course, I don't understand what you are doing anyway....

Aloha! Richard.
