| v.Richard Tl Posts: 6222 USA | Posted - 9/4/2005 6:59:31 PM  Winmodems require correct driver package (more than an .inf file) because modem is controllerless. Eiger Labs PCI Winmodem uses Conexant chipset - so you need compatible Conexant driver. | sveris Tl Posts: 4 USA | Posted - 9/6/2005 7:19:24 AM Richard, Thanks again for your help. I installed the HSF driver, but no luck. First, it did not result in a functioning modem. Second, the driver installed a program called pcsnoop.exe, a back-door Visual basic program which is supposedly "required" for certain modems to function properly. It appears to have crippled my PC, by consuming 100% of available memory every 15 seconds or so. I may just give up and buy another modem. SV |
