awg1011 Tl Posts: 2 USA | Posted - 9/10/2005 1:18:35 PM I am trying to update my modem driver, the modem is an intel chipset, 537ep, and it's currently using driver version 2.1.35.11. I have downloaded, from intel, version 2.66.88.1 and I can't seem to figure out how to install it. I tried to install it through the modem properties and clicking "update driver" and have tried both automaticly and manually and it can't seem to find the new driver, yes, I unzipped it. This is on a 2.5ghz Gateway with WinXP home sp2. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

IF the driver pkg does not install when you do this, it is likely your modem is either not a 537EP-based modem, or, whoever made it used a non-standard PCI-ID. Then, open the .inf file (intelc51.inf) with Notepad and examine the section near top - 'List of devices' - Aloha! Richard. |
awg1011 Tl Posts: 2 USA | Posted - 9/17/2005 4:05:52 PM Thanks Richard, I do have the 537ep chip set, but the PCI-IDs don't match, close but not quite. I don't think I'll force the install, The modem is working, I was just trying to solve very slow connection issues. However, we are now considering DSL. Thanks again for the info. |
