dick2005 Tl Posts: 4 USA | Posted - 10/3/2005 11:35:12 AM sir I have a program that enables me to dial a telephone from my database. To use it in windows I must open a DOS window. This program does not recognize a windows modem it must have a HARDWARE JUMPERED modem. My old computer has ISA slots. My new computer only has PCI slots. Where can I find a JUMPERED PCI modem. Even used. Any other solution? Is here another program? External modem? Thanks for your help. Dick I can't seem to find such a modem for PCI. |

dick2005 Tl Posts: 4 USA | Posted - 10/14/2005 4:01:32 PM Thanks for your reply I have a Lucent/Agere modem. I just go to a DOS window run desqueview but it does not recognize the modem. Dick |
v.Richard Tl Posts: 6222 USA | Posted - 10/15/2005 12:21:02 AM What is "desqueview"? DOS-box support: the Windows driver for the LT/Agere Win & Softmodems provide support for use in a Windows DOS-box - the COM port assigned to the modem is available to DOS under Windows. What version of Windows are you running? Aloha! Richard. |
dick2005 Tl Posts: 4 USA | Posted - 10/15/2005 1:48:39 PM TI DV is a very old program that alows 'windows' way before WINDOWS. You can run several programs at the same time and switch between them. (The company was sold to Symantec but they just let it die.) A Win modem's (no jumpers) com is set in the controll panel or a Win program which setting is not seen in a win DOS window. As far as I see. Is there special software you can run IN THE DOS window? The PCI LT/Agere modem I have, says it is a 'hardware based solution' ?? So I bought it. I thought it would have jumpers - it does NOT. Your help is greately appreciated Dick |
dick2005 Tl Posts: 4 USA | Posted - 10/15/2005 1:54:47 PM TI I am running win98 SE. How do I set up a 'DOS BOX' DICK |
v.Richard Tl Posts: 6222 USA | Posted - 10/15/2005 1:58:21 PM Windows Start->Run-> command starts a 'DOS-box'. If you boot your computer into Windows, and then run the actual DOS program (as opposed to Desqview, or, start the DOS-box (command prompt) and then execute the DOS program, it should work.
Aloha! Richard. |
