I know nothing about computers and wanted to change to a different modem, but it wouldn't work, so then I decided to just put the old one back in and now my computer cannot see it. Someone said to take it back out, reboot the machine with no modem and then put it back in so plug & play could detect it, but it still is not being detected...
what did I do??? Any suggestions???
HELP!

What kind of modems are old/new ones?
Brand/chipset would help.
What version of Windows are you running?

You should take a look at device manager
(ControlPanel->System) to see what shows there for Modems and/or unknown devices.
Exclamation marks / ? marks in device mgr are things to look for.
If you are running XP see
