This modem appears to perform better than any of my other modems. The chip on the card says U.S Robotics, but I wonder if it is actually made by Conexant. See the Driver header below. Does anyone have any more information on this modem? Also of interest is the fact that the driver inf file includes a fairly large section for DSP info which appears to be the implementation of three bandpass filters. Thanks, Kent ; USRHSFI5.INF Version 7.02.00.01 support Windows 2000/XP for RETAIL DF/FCC U.S. Robotics V.92 PCI Faxmodem (5660A) [DspInfo] HKR,DspInfo\FILTERS,BAND001,1,\ HKR,DspInfo\FILTERS,BAND002,1,\ |
v.Richard Tl Posts: 6222 USA | Posted - 12/2/2005 7:51:26 PM The USR5600 series modems are based upon Conexant's soft modem; USR 'enhances' it in ways that no other OEM I know of does (with their name on the chip, and customizing the driver)... Aloha! Richard. |

I just recorded a 46 kbps download on the Speakeasy Speedtest, and earlier today with one of my other ISPs I recorded 45 kbps. Both connects were 52K. The best I had seen previously with any of my modems was 41 kbps. I'm not multi-tasking so that is one unknown. But for the way I normally access the internet this modem is doing one impressive job.
