v.Richard Tl Posts: 6222 USA | Posted - 2/27/2006 7:03:18 PM The old 3049(L) uses Lucent/Agere Venus chipset; the newer ones 3049(C) use Conexant ACF chipset. "Any good"? - Well, if it were me on my phone line, I'd choose an old USR Sportster V.90 or V.34 modem (used/E-bay or similar). In most cases, these modems will do as good or better than any other modem on poor/marginal lines which you seem to have (baesd upon your prior posts). Most likely you're looking at a 3049C - and it might do well for you, but there's no way to tell with any modem - including the older USRs - without actually trying them on your line to your ISP. Aloha! Richard. |
