| snhks Tl Posts: 3 USA | Posted - 3/6/2006 12:12:37 PM    Hi, I'm trying to upgrade my Agere systems AC97 modem with a newer version in my Windows XP but I am unsure which version is correct with this softmodem. Currently I have version 2.1.25. dated 2/14/2003. I noticed on our other newer computer that it has a special feature with a Caller ID displayed on lower part of the screen whenever a phone call comes in. I love it! This older modem on this computer needs to be upgraded in order to have that Caller ID feature displayed whenever a call call comes in. Which version should I upgrade?- 3.1.98 or 3.1.106 or 2.1.54- which would work with my softmodem that has the Caller ID feature? Please direct me to the correct website address with the correct version of Agere System AC97 (softmodem NOT winmodem). Thank you! Below is my modem query: |
| v.Richard Tl Posts: 6222 USA | Posted - 3/7/2006 5:05:19 PM  None of the drivers at Modemsite are appropriate for your modem; The 'AC97 version of softmodem (also known as AMR - audio modem riser modems) are not standard PCI modems - they are usually found in notebooks, but sometimes in desktops. There is no 'generic' driver for this type of modem, so to upgrade you need to get from the original provider of your modem/system; or, Microsoft's Windows Update might have updated driver for the modem. However, the driver is not the source of the 'problem' you describe. If you are talking about caller id being displayed while you are online with the modem in use, you need to add the Modem-on-hold (MoH) applet to your system. The MoH applet for AC97 is at Modemsite - www.modemsite.com/56k/premiumc.asp If you are talking about caller id being displayed when you are NOT online and the modem is NOT in use, you have an entirely different situation.... There were a few, but which driver is best suited for my particular modem? Thank you! |
