Dose anyone know of what brand/make/chipset of modems that SP2 likes? I had a USR USB modem go kaput on one XP SP2 PRO comp and on XP SP2 hoem it runs fine I uninstalled the drivers yadda yadda even uninstalled all the files it up in rebooted and reinstalled it it simpley wont find a dail tone,I have been un impressed with USB modems and want to get a good solid PCI one but realy who makes solid PCI modems anymore? 0_o

the USR modem was a 5633 I think,but anyway I would like a Modem that SP2 likes if anyone knows of such a thing *L*

I dont use SP2 alot,frankly I ahte SP2 even tho I am nolonger in a aera that gets bordband SP2 is so fickle on un suported hardware I gave up fooling with it but I have family that has SP2 PCs 0-o so I want find soemthign good for them plus if it runs in SP2 SP1 shouldnt have a ahrd time running it *L*

Softmodem with Agere chipset aka SV92P would be my 1st choice.

Was workling on ym Uncels comp thats the one that went nuts he picked up a off off brand netosomething ..mmm netodragon? it was 28 at a small PC shop here and its running good.

I mgiht pick one up soemtime even tho I have a Serail USR curroiur 56K with thier fickle V.92 update,a Zoom Mini v.92 and my uncels old USR USB v.92 *L*

I get a steady 45.0Kbs out of the zoom withc it not to bad the only isse I ahve with it is soemtimes it locks up and you need to pull the usb plug but thats a USB powered thing.
Its a shame the old top brand modem makers cant make a modem to save themselfs anymore....
