Hello

It seems that my modem a rockwell hcf 56k Data fax pci modem has been acting up. I have never had a problem with it till about last weekend when the problems started. At the moment we are on AOL via dial up..we plan very soon to transfer to DSL or something faster..but that is not the problem at hand. It seems to be very slow when it connects take a couple of minutes for pages to come up like huge pauses in load time. i dont claim to be the a tech person by it sounds like the modem is will dial the number then have a hard time catching the rest of the call. Been looking at the properties of the devices and it says its working fine. This has got me stumped and i know when to ask for help. So if anyone can offer some help i would trully apprciate it!!

What CONNECT speed do you get?

What DRIVER VERSION is the modem driver? You can see the driver version by looking at (WindowsXP) ControlPanel->Phone & Modem Options -> Modems tab -> select modem; -> Properties -> Diagnostics -> Query Modem
the response to ati3 is the driver version.

Check to see if there is a later driver version, and if so, install it.
(I assume you are running WindowsXP?)

With Windows98, you'll need to use Hyperterminal connected directly to modem's COM port as per
www.modemsite.com/56k/x2-hyperterm.asp
and issue the commmand
ati3
the response will be the driver version.

Your modem driver is very old and you might want to upgrade the driver ----
