I am running a dektop PC with XP and have never had any issues with my modem until two days back when the system unexpectedly shut down in middle of making a PDF with Acrobat. DVD writer wouldn't write anything after that, nor would modem allow me to connect to my ISP. The the dial-up reported that i had entered incorrect password or username (error 691) when I have not. I called the ISP and established that it's not at their end and besides i can connect using my laptop. I have tried downloading a new driver after finding this site, and still have same error. I had a look at the PCTel modem and it has the following info on a sticker: I56PSP_F30 and 501 2B 3 058408 and the main chip has the following: PCTEL PCT789T-C1 0039 A033 written on it. I can't see a modem manufacturer. The driver I downloaded was in a folder called hsp_unidriversoftware_win2K_xp.zip but I don't know what the actual driver in this is. Microsoft's Online Crash Analysis reported: Error caused by a device driver and that it was a stop error. I hope someone can help cos i'm feeling Cheers, |
