Every time I try to connect to the internet I receive a 619 error stating that a connection could not be established so the port was closed. Now my ISP says that this issue is because something is using the modem, but how can this be? I dial up and I hear the annoying sound of a dialup connection, it goes to Verifying Username and Password and after 20 seconds or so I get the error. please help!

Your ISP is not correct about the error.
www.modemsite.com/56k/duns619.asp

You may not have the connectoid settings in proper order for connecting to your ISP as this error would normally appear only if connecting to a 'private' server (although it is possible for an ISP to configure their access server in such a manner as to look like a Windows-2000 server domain).
See
www.modemsite.com/56k/connectoid.asp
and your ISPs documentation, or have them walk you through what the settings should be.
What version of Windows are you using?

Aloha! Richard.
