Hi, I use Windows XP Home with Winfax, which runs on a Generic Soft 56K modem. Winfax used to work OK, but lately it refuses to send a fax -- it just ignores me. It receives faxes just fine. Could there be something wrong with the modem?

Probably not the modem.
First things to do:
Check the modem log
www.modemsite.com/56k/modemlog.asp

Try sending a fax with Microsoft Fax
www.modemsite.com/56k/fax.asp
