I have a Conexant PCI SoftV92 Data Fax Modem with SmartCP, and other then not connecting V.92 all is fine. I live in the Country and I only get 28.8-33.3 Kbps but I know thats normal.I've called my ISP help agents numerous times, but they are unable to help at all. All they have been able to tell me is that they support V.92, and the dial up # I use to connect supports V.92 as well. I recently installed a caller-id program, called "PhoneTray Dial up" which advises me as soon as I connect that I am connnected via V.90, and I should contact my ISP to obtain help in getting V.92 connections. I am pretty fluent and capable with XP and hardware, but I'm at a loss as to the cause of why I cant connnect V.92.
Could anyone help me determine why I always am unable to connect via V.92? |

The modemlog you posted has 2 connect attempts - the 1st one resulted in no carrier, the second one has a telco feature code prior to dialing the number *## - probably is turning off your call-waiting feature?
Also, the post-call diagnostics aren't included for the call that actually made a connection, it would be helpful to post that also. Check your connectoid for the list of phone #s to dial in on and make sure you are not disabling call-waiting. That said, there are some modems that will not do V.92/modem-on-hold if a 56k connect (V.90) fails. A 28. - 33.6kbps connection is V.34 for modulation - but, if both modems are V.92 should still be possible to do MoH. Aloha! Richard.
