I have a toshiba (M45 series) with a toshiba modem com5 and also have v.92 modem on hold as well as caller id and call waiting. The v.92 was part of the package. When a call comes in it does not tell me the number. So when I get off the computer and find out it is an 800 number and sales etc call I am upset. Can you tell me how to make it show the number in the part that says caller id? Teri

First - the modem isn't a "Toshiba" as Toshiba does not make dial up modems.

You need the 'callwaiting-id' service (callerid for call waiting) from the telephone company to see caller id info while on a call. You may not have this service on your line.
If you have a standalone callwaiting/callerid display and it shows the number that's calling you while you are on a call (whether it be a modem or regular voice call), then you have the needed service from the phone company (and can use the external callwaiting display until you get the computer/software working correctly).
To further help you - would need to know the modem chipset, driver version, and what modem-on-hold software is in use.
See
www.modemsite.com/56k/chipset.asp
for info on determining what kind of modem/chipset you have.

Aloha! Richard.

I do have that type of caller id and call waiting. I can see a call coming in on my telephone and can choose before answering it. I pay extra for this service as well as call waiting. I also have call waiting enabled

The modem is an Agere 2001-2004
The Driver is 2.1.47.6
v.92 modem LtMoh MFC Application version 1.7.3.0

Other possibly relevant info is as follows:
location pci bus 0.divice.30.function3
i/o range e300-e3ff or
i/o range e/400-e47f
iqr 11

So, what does happen when you get an incoming call as far as the computer goes? Do you get a notification window about the call? Do you *ever* get a notification that includes the number that is calling you? [The MoH applet is not able to display a number for 'out of area' or 'private' incoming calls.]

If you still have trouble, please post your modem log

Aloha! Richard.

When I get a call a little box comes up and it says:

Call waiting Please make a choice in 15 seocnds
Date: 11/26
Time: 19:22m
Number:

And where it says "number there is nothing - ever - no matter where the call is coming from it never says anything. I copied and pasted the last 11 lines from the modem log. I hope that helps. Tell me if you need more.
Thank you for your help - Teri

I don't know ---- the part of the modem log that you posted is of no help - not sure if it would help but would need to see large part of it (from modem port open to placing call to end of session).

When you right-click the 'A' Modem-on-hold icon, then V.92 MoH Settings, what are the options?

The only other thing I can suggest - and not sure if that would fix your problem - is to update your modem driver and MoH applet to the latest versions available - 2.1.73 and 1.76 which you can download from Modemsite (with Premium Access subscription) - www.modemsite.com/56k/premiumc.asp
Since you have a notebook, the driver would be:
Lucent/Agere Soft/AMR AC'97/ HD Audio Modem Drivers:
Version 2.1.73 for Windows XP & 2000

Aloha! Richard.

When I right click the choices are:

Enable call waiting (this is checked)
Disconnect call. Switch to voice (NOT checked)
Enable modem on hold (this is checked)
Enable caller id (this is checked)
Warn before timeout (this is checked and 40 seconds in box)
To switch between calls, dial (nothing in box)

Is there a charge for the downloading of the new moh

Here is today's log but I don' t think the modem on hold (moh) was utilized. Thanks again for your help. Teri

Yes, it is safe to post the modem log.
I don't see anything that would explain your problem.

As for download - from Modemsite, a Premium Access Subscription is required (starts at $1.59 for 35 days) - I think the modem driver is more likely to be cause/cure of problem than the MoH application, although I would suggest updating both.
www.modemsite.com/56k/subscribe.htm - info on Premium Access
www.modemsite.com/56k/premiumc.asp - download page

Aloha! Richard.

I did note when I looked more closely at the moh instructions that your internet provider had to accept this type for it to work right. What questions would you suggest that i ask my internet provider.

The ISP isn't involved with the caller id of the call waiting - that's your telco and your modem.

Aloha! Richard.
